3,2,1… WRITE

I promised to update y’all on my WIP so here goes. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Currently I’m working on my historical fiction novel Eagledare for Camp NaNoWriMo.

lol my stats are epic *hides*

The synopsis for it on my WIP page is so old and inaccurate and lame… So don’t be turned off by that. ๐Ÿ˜›

temporary cover I made… thoughts?

Basically,ย Eagledare is a story about a girl in London during World War Two who… has problems. lol How do I encompass a huge thing with deep themes, a new previously not in the history books world (๐Ÿค), a fun and hard and patriotic 1940s atmosphere, and a whole cast of messed up characters.

Make any sense? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‰ If you want to know more about this novel-in-the-works, just stalk the posts on here or stick around for a while as I talk about it more and more.

Here are some sketches I did, the last few days, of a few of the characters:

I got pretty behind on my teensy Camp goal, but this past week Paul has been challenging me to get up early with him to sprint.

sleepy but happy and writing!

The early schedule has been real tough to keep up but amazing for my word count!!!

Paul’s gigantic sweatshirt is SO comfy xD

Also we got our writer siblings together and did multiple sprints with them, pooling money for the best healthyish snacks EVER!

popcorn, candy, banana chips, chocolate, story notes, and a pretty computer. what could be better?!

writer siblings and word sprints

Slowly but surely I caught up on my daily word goal. Thursday, my oldest sister Perry came over, and we filmed another livestream and then wrote together afterward!

we even ended up reading aloud a flash fiction we co-wrote a long time ago!
the BEST writing snack!!
sitting on the floor is just more comfortable, ya know?
sister word-sprint!

I reached my Camp word goal Thursday night! Wahoo!!! And thankfully, didn’t get stuck and stop writing!!

Then yesterday we had the huge privilege of having a write-in with a writer we met at the AFHE Convention!!! I didn’t get a whole lot of words written, but it was a blast and I hope we do it again soon!

squished and fun car trip ๐Ÿ˜›

Um, and guys… EAGLEDARE IS CURRENTLY 62K WORDS!!! *all the excited cheering* So that’s my writing news. ๐Ÿ˜

See that top page with all the scrawling and crossed out notes? Yeah. *collapses into puddle of tears* I would love your prayers as I write this really difficult low point!!

What’s been up with you? I’d love to hear! ๐Ÿ™‚ย  ~A

  1. Hi Anna! I absolutely love reading about your updates and little details about Eagledare. Happy to know you’re working towards finishing. XD

Love the sketches too! I think it’s cool that you do those.
Also, you’re selfies? So cute!! You’re such a pretty girl. XD
Yay for sibling writers! I think it’s cool that some of your younger sisters also write. My littlest sister started writing some too, and she’s so proud of it. XD
Forgot to mention it in the commentary that I emailed to Kate, but I loved the sweater that you were wearing during the chat. It looks so good on you and so comfy. ๐Ÿ˜€
Keep up the good work! I’ll be praying for you. I just finished my book and low points are HARD! *wipes sweat of forehead*
You can do it. We’re cheering you on. ๐Ÿ˜€

    1. Hi Libby! Yay thanks so much!! Yep, I’m wooorking towards finishing! ๐Ÿ˜‰
Thanks lady, I love sketching my characters! It helps me figure out what kinds of people they are– their expressions, clothes, etc.
      Haha You’re sweet. *hides*
YES yay! Writer siblings are the best. ๐Ÿ˜€ Hooray!! That’s so great!! Congratulate your sister for me! She can do it!!!
(ooh yes, i forgot to mention that i made Kate forward the commentary to me and I super enjoyed reading it. xD) Aw I love it too! I was actually wearing Paul’s huge gigantic sweatshirt seconds before we started the video, but they all begged me to get a ‘nicer’ one, lol … so I grabbed my sister Aimee’s coral colored one. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜› Yeppers, very comfy. ๐Ÿ˜€
OH the prayers and cheering-on are so so appreciated, Libby! (and hey, GET YOURSELF OREOS OR SOMETHING for finishing your draft!!!! HUGE CONGRATS AGAIN!!!)
This comment was fun, thanks bunches. ๐Ÿ˜‰ โค

๐Ÿ˜› I love it that you wear Paul’s sweaters. I always wanted and older brother SO BADDD! (Still do, but, ya know, it’s still just as impossible. XD) (since I’m the oldest) (and I’m a girl)
        Thank you for posting! ๐Ÿ˜€

Haha Yeah, his sweatshirt is SO comfy and huge and has those too-long sleeves I can flop at people ya know? Aw poor thing… If I could just make a wish and you’d get 5 older brothers, I so would!

  2. AHHHHHH!!!! * squeals up and down* I finished my goal an hour ago- even though that goal was only 25,000 words. XD I’m so relieved and so glad to know you made it too! It’s so cool that your siblings write too- even your little sis! My siblings don’t, but they were cheering me on while I was wordsprinting. ๐Ÿ˜› Anyway, craziest thing is that I now have more plot bunnies- and I was planning on quitting writing for good.

My, I’m rambling, aren’t I? XD That’s it! Also, tell everyone I say hi! ๐Ÿ˜€

Yay for siblings for ‘cheer-leaders’, isn’t that the best most distracting thing??!! lol ๐Ÿ˜‰
Haha Oh I SO get it… it feels overwhelming I know but DON’T STOP writing or you might not get back to the story for months and months like I did!
“planning on quitting writing for good” *cracks up* RIGHT??!! But nope, not completely possible for the people who have writing deep down in their hearts. It just HAS to burst out. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Congrats again, Jo! Thanks for sharing your exciting news with me! *cheers*

I’m so glad you made this much progress!!
I finished the Camp NaNoWriMo with 62k. It was hard but fun. I so wish I lived in Arizona so I could spend time with y’all!!

    1. Thanks, Parker! I’m pretty excited. ๐Ÿ™‚
I only wrote like 7,000 this camp session and some more words here and there, but yes reaching the big 50k last November was difficult and very fun!!
Heeehee love all the exclamation marks and the excitement! Makes me happy people are so looking forward to Eagledare already!! I know I definitely am. ๐Ÿ˜‰

NICE job! That’s a lot of words!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘ Glad you decided to do Camp now? ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜‰
Oh that would be so fun if you lived closer… we’d do a huge write-in with all the writers nearby!

Thanks for commenting, Parker, and keep writing!

  4. Great job with meeting your goal! I didn’t do anything for the first week really, and then was trying to catch up, but totally died during the past weekend. So, I got 27/40 hours done. ๐Ÿ˜›

  5. Oh, congrats on your book! 62K is amazing! Iโ€™m feeling that not wanting write and yet wanting to write, and feeling like nothing good ever comes out of your brain at the moment, LOL! I have a lot of friends that are like, โ€œOh, I want to be a writer!โ€ Me: Iโ€™m not even a published author yet, but you have a LONG road ahead of you before you become published, LOL! But I canโ€™t wait for you, Anna, to publish a book. Iโ€™m sure itโ€™ll be an awesome book. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Aaahh THANKS Amie!!!
Aw I know that feeling all too well. But yo, you can press through!! I’m sure your stories are interesting!!! And hey, take a break and write something completely easy and just for your own fun and enjoyment. It’s relaxing and chill and could really get you back into the groove of loving words again! ๐Ÿ‘โค๐Ÿ™
Haha Yes, a LONG road! But I’m so excited to be this much closer to starting on it!
Aw thanks, I sure hope it’ll be awesome! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks so much for the encouragement, Amie!

And don’t give up on grinding out the words just yet, I have the feeling there’s something spectacular inside you that’s just waiting to burst out into a story. ๐Ÿ˜‰

      1. There seems to be a difference of knowing, and feeling, but I’m pushing through. The word count isn’t booming like yours, but I know that I need to plow through. I’ve tried taking breaks, but that hasn’t gotten me very far, so I’m trying the “Press through until you come to the easy part” strategy. My siblings are helpful cheerleaders, though! One bonus of having a large family, LOL!
You’re so welcome! I hope I’m not draining you, because I try to be a fountain, and you’re always so positive online. (Now, I would ask your siblings about real life, but I don’t feel like that would be fair. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ). Awe, thanks!

        1. YAY!!! Puuuushing through is fantastic, Amie!! *cheers* And hoorah for cheerleader siblings. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Naw, you’re good! I like to try to encourage people, so I actually love it when they tell me what they are having a hard time with. โค ๐Ÿ™‚ (HAHA right??!! *hides face guiltily*)

Hope you plow through to some easier fun-to-write parts soon!

Eeek SO happy you’re excited for Eagledare!!! lol I haven’t even really been able to write a clear synopsis about it yet. xD But yes, ALL that plus a weird fantasy-ish plot aspect I haven’t really been able to explain yet and I โค it. ๐Ÿ˜€
Thank you, thank you! CONGRATS TO YOU TOO!! Can't wait for Seek!
Aw glad you like the pictures I post! (AGREED. french fries totally deserve making it into photos<3 โค ๐Ÿ˜› )

  8. YAY!!!! Congratulations, Anna!! ๐Ÿ˜€ Eagledare looks like an awesome novel!! And 62K words?!?! Woahhhhhh. XD That’s amazing! I love that cover too!
Awe, sprints like that would be so fun! And I love that you have such a big writing family!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I would love that!

This time around, I completed my novel at… (currently, I’m reading through, not heavily editing yet) almost 52K words, but it is going to go through soooooo many changes XD I’m thinking about re-plotting and re-writing for NaNoWriMo…

Loved this post, Anna!! Praying for you! ๐Ÿ˜€ โค

    1. AAHH thank you!!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ I sure hope it will be an awesome novel. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Oh, it is a blast writing with so many people! …even though I personally have a hard time getting many words written because the writer conversations that start up are so fun. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜›

NICE word count! That’s fantastic!!! *cheers* Oh I so get it. Eagledare went through complete re-thinking, re-plotting, and re-start right before NaNoWriMo 2017 and changed sooo much from what that original 25k story had been about! Just know that it is totally worth all that hard work if you decide to rewrite. ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks a lot for all the encouragement and prayers, Liz! โค Keep up your amazing writing!

I have the same problems with online sprints XD

Thank you!!! Yeah, I’m thinking about re-plotting before NaNoWriMo, and then re-writing, but I’m worried that might be too soon… :/

Of course! Thank you! Same to you! โค ๐Ÿ˜€

You can do it, Liz!!! Write write write!!

  9. Ohh, sibling sprints are awesome! Only Sarah and I do them in our family, but it would be cool if my sibling’s joined in. =)
You look awesome in your brother’s jacket. =) *High five for getting up early* I’m not sure I could do that just for writing. Normally I just stay up late to write.
What kind of computer do you have? (If you don’t mind me asking) I’m looking into getting one soon and yours looks awesome.
Next time you see Kate give her a hug for me, please. I’ve been sending to many virtual ones. ;P
I will be praying that your writing goes well!

HaHA thanks, that’s sweet of you to say. ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜‰ Oooh ikr?! It was definitely very hard to keep getting up early, but I did get a lot of writing done when I did so that was motivating! That’s cool of you to stay up late and write… I’m usually way too brainless to get words out.. lol
My computer is an HP Pavilion 13″. Isn’t it cute??!! (you can’t tell in the pics but it’s silver and gold colored โค ๐Ÿ˜ฎ ) It's very light but sturdy and helpful. ๐Ÿ˜€ Hope you find the perfect computer for you!!!
Will do, sweet person! I'll surprise her with a big squeeze and then tell her it's from you. ๐Ÿ˜‰
      Thank you so much, Mikayla!

  10. Wow! This looks like so much fun! Good job staying dedicated and getting those words written. And LANDS SAKES, CHILD! It looks like the best snacks indeed. (FRENCH FRIES!!!) Now I want to dedicate the next few weeks to writing. ๐Ÿ˜‰
