I’ve Been Awarded!

Guess what? I’ve been awarded The Liebster Award by my sweet friend Rosy @Rosy’s Writings!

Thanks so much, Rosy!! This should be fun… *grins*

Y’all should check out her post, and FYI she’s so good at thinking up questions!

But first, the tag rules:
Thank the blog that nominated you for the award.
Answer the questions they gave you.
Give 11 fun facts about yourself.
Nominate 11 other bloggers for the award, and give them 11 questions to answer.

@ A Storynerd's Life (1)

Now for my answers to Rosy’s questions!

1.Whatโ€™s the craziest thing you did when you were little?
lol Okay, so I asked my older sister Kate this question, and she started reminding me of kinda weird/naughty things I did. Apparently I was very clever in my naughtiness. ๐Ÿ˜‚So here’s a slightly crazy story (I didn’t think it was then, but everyone else thinks so, sooo…). ๐Ÿ˜‰

My brother and I used to ride our bikes rain and shine, all the time. We had permanent calluses on our hands, the strongest pedaling muscles ever, and probably went through a lot of shoe soles. lol. The only place we had to bicycle was our super steep driveway that curved down the hill where it joined two other equally steep driveways (which we also biked on… Thx, neighbors!) at the street. (In this instance I think I was probably 8 or 9 yrs old?) Well I remember riding my bike on this described course after it had rained, frozen thickly, snowed, rained and frozen in another sheet on top of all that, and was at the time raining again… making it even more perilous. I remember finding the challenge of staying upright thrilling though I was eventually called in because it was unsafe.ย ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ And I didn’t die, knock my teeth out, or turn into a snow+bycicle popsicle! ๐Ÿ˜€ Would I do it again? Yeah, probably. But this time I’d wear a helmet (just in case) and maybe some mittens.

2. What is the latest song that was stuck in your head?
Le Mis finale (10th anniversary Broadway version of course). It’s the saddest thing when I know 98% of the lyrics and can.never.ever. remember certain important parts. And I haven’t even read/watched Les Miserables, so that 98% is just from singing along with YouTube videos of the Broadway play. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜Ž But seriously guys, that song is brilliantly arranged (*screams when “Bring Him Home” strains come in*) and is amazingly sung (Jan Valjan really sounds like he’s dying! Nailing it Colm Wilkinson!) and has a dear dear chilling message (“the chain will be broken and all men will have their reward!!”) and wow. ๐Ÿ™‚

3. Which do you prefer– white chocolate, milk chocolate, or dark chocolate?
Milk all the way!!! White chocolate is okay too, but definitely not dark chocolate… it’s too close to the taste of bitter coffee in my heart’s opinion.

4. What are three of your main goals in life?
Ooh that just got deep. jk Only three? Hmm…

One, show God’s marvelous gift to as many souls as possible, and always live for His glory– wherever He puts me and however I can.

Two…um, I’m hesitant to share this one but here goes. I want to change lives. I want to open eyes to see– the beauty and hope and laughter and precious (sometimes sad) humans– around them. But not just through my stories… As long as I can hold a pen or at least dictate, I hope to always write joyful, honest, encouraging letters to anyone who needs a friend. Basically, I want to help people smile. ๐Ÿ™‚

Goal three? I’d love to have a happy, God-centered family and do my best to be a great helper and best friend to my husband someday. ๐Ÿ™‚ And if that’s not the future God has planned for me, then I’m excited to see what other cool things I might end up doing!

5. When did you start blogging, and what inspired you to do it?
Fun question! I actually just started blogging as of May 28th. *Grins* I’ve been wanting to start a personal blog for some time now, but, honestly, I didn’t think I had anything to add to the whole huge amazing blogging world. When I told my friend this, the nice human instantly shot back “there’s not another Anna out there. We want to read your blog and hear your thoughts. And I bet you’d do it better than any of us” (or something to that effect ๐Ÿ˜› ). So my friends and family inspired this blog. ๐Ÿ™‚ As well as the smiles and life and encouragement and stories I hope to share with the world!

6. What are some of your favorite hymns?
Last year “It is Well” became my definite favorite through all the hard things that happened. I still want to cry every time it’s sung… But now it’s not all sad tears. With the mournful but then soaring and victorious melody, my whole heart relives many happy memories, sad heartcries, and an aching longing for the future told of in the last verse.

7. Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Haha. Very very much a night owl. XD At night all my absent-through-the-day energy appears, and I have all the brilliant story ideas and jokes and plans. My dad says I got it from him, which is probably true… he’s an artist. ๐Ÿ˜‰

8. If you could give any advice to your younger self, what would it be?
Oh wow. I have no idea… I guess I’ve never thought about it. Probably “brush your hair more often and act less like a tomboy”. jk

In all seriousness though, I think I would tell my younger self to not focus on the moment’s problems but enjoy the little happy things and store away those memories to hug in the future, and to invest in the people because that’s what really matters in the end. ๐Ÿ™‚

And to stop throwing snowballs in lumberjacks’ faces because they always retaliat BAD… and they don’t mind waiting till next winter to do so. ๐Ÿ˜‚

9.Whatโ€™s the first word you can think of that starts with R?
“Read”. No, I’m not obsessed.

10.Whatโ€™s your favorite Bible verse?
Eeek that’s hard. Probablyย Psalm 25: 4-5?

11. Do you like coffee?
Not unless it is a mocha frap, which some people say doesn’t count. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Those were some really great questions! Thanks, Rosy!

Yo, guys, I’m gonna skip the 11 fun facts part. *hides* This post is already getting gigantic, and I just told a lot of extra stuff about me up there ^^ while answering the questions. So on to my nominations! (No worries if you wouldn’t like to do this thingy, of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰)

  1. I am currently writing a children’s fantasy story whose premise focuses around Fairy Frogs, who are deeply compassionate, clever, and artistic. All of them may share those three characteristics, but they have their different characteristics as well. They live in The Cattail Forest.
Sparkle, the protagonist, is a 12 year-old adventurous, rebellious, and courageous. Her talent is in drawing and she is very invested in it.

    1. That sounds like a fun story! I love to draw and have only read a few books about characters that enjoy drawing. Good luck with your writing! ๐Ÿ‘

      1. I gave each frog a different artistic ability to show the Fairy Frogs are artistic.

        Sparkle= drawer
        Misty= singer
        Felipe= woodcarver
        Aires= head carpenter

But it focuses mainly on Sparkle. They all are artistic in some way.

  2. Questions:

    1. Describe yourself (as if you’re a story character) in three words.
    2. What’s your favorite first line in a book?
    3. What song was most recently stuck in your head? Why?
    4. Boots, flip-flops, or tennies/converse?
    5. Tell the most awkward story of you meeting someone new.
    6. If you could reverse the ending of one book what would it be and how would you have it end?
    7. Favorite writing/reading snack?
    8. What authors are you looking forward to meeting in heaven? How would you introduce yourself?
    9. How many inches thick is the thickest book spine on your bookshelf?
    10. Pens or pencils?
    11. When you’re gone how do you hope to be remembered?

      1. Boots or tennies, not flip flops!!
Favorite writing/reading snack: chocolate, chocolate covered pretzels, popcorn, or chocolate.
I’m looking forward to meeting these authors in Heaven: C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, and all the other Christian authors of my favorite books.
The thickest book on my bookshelf is one and one-quarter inches thick. It’s my awesome, big, beautiful Narnia collection. ๐Ÿ™‚
Pens are great, but I think I’ll pick pencils. They’re more multi-purposey. ๐Ÿ˜‰
If I could reverse the ending of one book… I can’t think of a book that I’d change the ending of. So maybe I should change the ending of my own story to be better. Bye! *leaves to go write*

  3. That was super fun to read, Anna! Lol, I am a night owl too! (I hate getting up early, be I do anyway. Most of the time..) I just knew that you were going to say โ€œread”, lol. ๐Ÿ˜€ Good job on tagging 11 people. Thatโ€™s better than I did… ๐Ÿ˜› Thanks for doing this! (; I love and miss you! โค

  5. Hi Anna! This is cool, So, since I’m new to this, what exactly do I do? Do I post this on my blog, or answer the questions here? Sorry, I’ve seen posts like this before on other blogs but I didn’t know exactly what they meant.

    1. Hi Laura! You can answer these in a post on your own blog. Make sure to leave me a link when it’s posted so I can see it! ๐Ÿ™‚ (Oh, and I just replied to your email, hope it helps!) Excited to read your answers!!

  6. Mind if I answer the questions too? Hopefully not, cuz here goes. ๐Ÿ˜‰
    Um… Really red-head. Freckled. Usually cheerful. ๐Ÿ˜€
Well, I donโ€™t tend to like the ones that say things like, โ€œIt was a beautiful morningโ€, or โ€œThe sun was shining brightly!โ€, I more like ones that are like, โ€œIt had been almost three months since I had been in an honest-to-goodness fight with anybody.โ€ XD That was taken from The Sugar Creek gang.
Hmmm… Itโ€™s Under the Blood. Not a bad song to be stuck in your head though! It did drive me nuts after a while, and I had to go play it on the piano for a while before it went away.
I personally love all three! Flip-fops and tennis shoes in the summer, boots and tennis in the winter.
Well, I can only think of one at the top of my head. So, In Mexico itโ€™s the custom to shake everybody hand when you greet them. One Sunday I was handing out cookies to everybody at church. This guy comes up to shake my hand and thought he was making for a cookie! So I handed him one, and he kind of chuckled and took in, walking away. I could hear him laughing and telling his friend about something right after that! It was more embarrassing than it sounds at the time. (This was over a year ago, btw.)
I truly not sure… But I really do not like it when two characters seem like their about to get married, and you expect them to… then the books ends, and they donโ€™t. Frustrating! I usually make up my own Epilogue to books like that!
I donโ€™t snack that often. But chocolate is amazing. (Thatโ€™s unoriginal!) I like crunchy things like nuts or chips.
I donโ€™t know about that one either!!! But I really love Christmas Carol Kaufmanโ€™s books, so maybe her. (Seriously, who would name their child that? Kinda cute, but still…) I donโ€™t know what Iโ€™d say though. โ€œUm, hullo Mrs. Kaufman. I, uh, read two of your books, and I like them, and um Iโ€™ve read the like, 4 times each, and um…. Would you please sign your autograph please maโ€™am?โ€ Okay wait that wouldnโ€™t work…
The Martyrโ€™s Mirror! Really, really thick! Itโ€™s very interesting to read!
I like both, but probably pencils. I love those eraser thingies. ๐Ÿ˜€
A good and encouraging friend. ๐Ÿ™‚
Okay, this turned out to be more like a blog post than a comment, so I hope you like really super-duper long ones. Love and miss you! โค
